Last week, I spoke with French Radio London about the 2003 Iraq War and then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Specifically, FRL asked — in expectation of the findings of the Chilchot Inquiry — if Blair could be tried as a war criminal.
I spoke about Blair’s actions — the agreement from April 2012 with the Bush Administration to invade Iraq, the manipulation of intelligence to pursue this invasion, the lying to Parliament and the public, the dismissal of his Government’s conclusion that the war would be against international law — but concluded:
“Let’s be honest, people who win wars don’t go on trial.”
