As US Vice President Joe Biden visits Kiev on Tuesday, how does one evaluate US and European support for Ukraine’s government?

Are the takeovers of buildings by pro-Russian demonstrators in eastern Ukraine justified? Is there any difference between the protests in the east and those in western Ukraine that deposed President Yanukovych in February?

And is Moscow supporting — through covert operations, economic pressure, and propaganda — not only the demonstrations but also the break-up of Ukraine?
