At least 42 people were killed on Monday in a series of car bombs in busy areas in predominantly Shia neighbourhoods of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
The deadliest attack took place in Sadr City, where a car bomb blew up where workers were gathering. The exposion killed at least seven people, including two soldiers
This morning’s attacks follow a suicide bombing in a mosque south of Baghdad on Sunday, which killed at least 40 people, and assaults last Wednesday and Thursday that left almost 60 dead.
The violence also reached Kurdistan on Sunday, as a double bombing near security headquarters killed at least six people.
