LATEST: Supreme Leader: The British “Suck Others’ Possessions Like Leeches And Fatten Themselves

Jump to Latest Update

Periodically, we feature Iranian State media’s proclamations — “reworking” latest evidence — that All Is Well with oil production and exports, despite US-led sanctions.

This morning, Press TV — citing Reuters — offers us a fine example: “A recent report shows that Japan’s crude oil imports from Iran increased 38.3 percent in July from a month earlier despite the illegal US-engineered embargoes against the Islamic Republic’s oil and financial sectors.”

Here is what Press TV did not use from the Reuters story:

Iran’s top four oil clients slightly reduced imports from the sanction-hit nation in July and purchases remain down about a fifth for the year….

In July, the four major Asian buyers imported 796,047 barrels per day (bpd) of Iranian crude in July, down from 798,400 bpd a year ago, according to official government data and tanker arrival schedules given to Reuters.

Between January and July, they imported 936,981 bpd, down 20 percent from the same seven months in 2012.

It is true that Japan’s purchases last month increased from a year ago — that is because they took zero barrels of Iranian oil in July 2012, suspending imports because of difficulties over insurance after European Union sanctions were imposed.

Supreme Leader: The British “Suck Others’ Possessions Like Leeches And Fatten Themselves

The Supreme Leader’s office has used Ayatollah Khamenei’s new Google Plus account to make a comment about the British and Iran’s scientific progress, complete with a handy infographic.

The comment is apparently a quote from a speech Khamenei made in 2012, and seems to make the argument that though the British may appear accomplished, their apparent achievements are all down to their past colonization of India and Burma.

I would not recommend you to be startled by the progress in the west at all- such achievements are rather due to an earlier entry into this arena and is based on oppression, imperialism and colonialism.

Had the Britons not colonized, usurped and marauded India, Burma, that wealthy region of Asia- well-portrayed by Indians themselves during a period of history- they could have never gotten to the point where they are now.

They suck others possessions like leeches and fatten themselves.

We do not want to act similarly. We are by no means after sucking others’ properties. We promote domestic creativity and resourcefulness and we believe that God willing we will progress. Therefore do not allow the endeavor fall away.

In contrast, the Supreme Leader asserts — via a helpful infographic — that Iran’s scientific progress is 13 times the global average and the Islamic Republic’s scientific output is set to be fourth in the world by 2018. All that without ever colonizing Burma.

Rouhani Government Criticizes Ahmadinejad Government for “Illegal” Transfer of Funds to New Ahmadinejad University

Akbar Torkan, the chief aide to President Hassan Rouhani, has said the Ahmadinejad Government acted illegally when it transferred 160 billion rials (about $6 million at official rate) to the newly-established Iranian University, which is linked to Ahmadinejad.

The former Government shifted the money on August 3, the day of Rouhani’s inauguration.

Ahmadinejad announced the establishment of the non-profit university in his last speech as President, adding that donations were being accepted.

Rafsanjani Warns that US Attack n Syria “Could Engulf Entire Region”

Former President Hashemi Rafsanjani — the mentor of the current President, Hassan Rouhani — has taken a harder line on possible US-led airstrikes on Syria, according to Syrian media, “It seems that the main objective of US adventurism in the region is not limited to Syria and engulfs the entire region….A US attack and aggression will probably not be confined to Syria.”

Rafsanjani, in contrast to other leading figures in the Islamic Republic, had refrained from blaming Syrian insurgents for last week’s chemical weapons attacks and had held back from portraying the Syrian conflict as a US-Israeli plot to expand their influence.

Head of Armed Forces: “US Fights For Al Qa’eda in Syria”

General Hassan Firouzabadi, the head of Iran’s armed forces, maintained the military’s hard-line propaganda on Syria on Friday: “The US, which has invaded countries in the region under the big lie of battling al-Qaeda following the September 11 [attacks], is now fighting in favor of Al Qa’eda in Syria.”

He continued, “American people will realize that the White House’s warmongering pretext called al-Qaeda was a big lie the US rulers told the American nation,” and warned, “Regional countries backing this cruel war will suffer serious losses.”

Firouzabadi gets support from Seyed Mohammad Marandi of Tehran University: “Washington is strengthening Al-Qaeda in Syria because the extremist groups operating in the Muslim state will be the beneficiaries of a potential military intervention in the country.”

Marandi disputed the American presentation of regime guilt over chemical weapons attacks, as there was no reason for Damascus “to use chemical weapons at the time when it’s winning all the ongoing battles against the Takfiri groups”.

So who was responsible?

“It’s obviously in the interest of the militants to use these weapons. And of course, the United States and its partners encourage the use of these weapons because they know every time they use them, the Syrian government will be blamed by the West.”
