EA on Dublin NewsTalk: Ireland, Spain, and Norway Recognize State of Palestine

I joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Pat Kenny Show on Friday to analyze the significance of Ireland’s recognition of the state of Palestine.

I examine the shift in Europe with Wednesday’s announcement by Norway, Spain, and Ireland — meaning that 9 of 27 European Union members are among more than 140 countries who recognize Palestine — and the prospect of other European states soon joining them.

I consider recognition “in principle” and the practical issues before Palestine can be formally considered a state. And I evaluate how Israel’s threats and intimidation of Irish officials point to the isolation of the Israelis during their “open-ended” war on Gaza.
