UPDATE 1915 GMT: At least 45 people have been killed in northwest Yemen after a Saudi airstrike hit a camp for internally displaced people.

The humanitarian agency, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), confirmed the bombing of the Al-Mazraq camp in Hajjah Province. Dozens of people were injured.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also said the camp had been hit.

The camp has sheltered Yemenis displaced by the conflict between the Houthi movement, who now control the capital Sanaa, and the then-central government since 2009. It has received 500 new families over the past two days amid the Saudi-led airstrikes and fighting between the Houthis and the alternative government of President Abdrabuh Mansour Hadi.

This evening the Saudi airstrikes have caused fireballs in Sanaa, as a missile depot has been hit.

SANAA ABLAZE

Fighters of the Houthi movement, which is in charge of Yemen’s capital Sanaa, have pressed their offensive towards the port city of Aden despite Saudi-led airstrikes.

Clashes were reported in the Dar Saad district, as fighters loyal to President Abdrabuh Mansour Hadi battled Houthis trying to push their way to Aden’s northern gate, and there were gun battles in the central Crater section,

Hadi loyalists said they had recaptured the airport, which has changed hands several times in recent days.

Nearly 100 people have reportedly been killed in the violence in Aden.

President Hadi set up an alternative government last month in Aden after he fled Sanaa as the Houthis consolidated their power in the capital. Hadi left the port city last Thursday — soon after the Saudi-led airstrikes tried to check the Houthi advance — ostensibly for an Arab summit in Egypt.

Heavy fighting was also reported on Sunday in Shabwa province, with local tribes saying at least 40 Houthi fighters were killed.

The latest airstrikes targeted the Houthis’ base of Saada in the north, ammunition depots, and airports.

Nabil el-Araby, the head of the Arab League, said the attacks would continue until Houthi forces ceased fire and disarmed:

Yemen was on the verge of collapse which prompted a reaction from Arab states and the international community.

The [airstrikes] came after all other means to achieve a peaceful solution…were exhausted. The [strikes] will continue until the Houthis hand over their weapons.
