UPDATE 0703 GMT:

Iran’s authorities have executed another participant in the nationwide protests in January.

The judiciary claimed Shahram Sadeghi ran over and injured several police officers with his car. They declared he “carried out an operational action in support of the Zionist regime and the United States”.

Sadeghi supposedly struck the officers on January 8 in Karaj, west of Tehran, as Iran’s security forces carried out military-style attacks adding to the toll of thousands slain during the protests.

Around 30 participants in the protests have been executed during the US-Israel War.

ORIGINAL ENTRY: Despite a purported ceasefire, Israel has stepped up deadly strikes across southern Lebanon.

At least 11 people were slain, including three children and women, were killed Saturday.

Seven of the victims, including the children and women, were slain by strikes near the town of Ansar. Another two, as well as nine injured, were hit in Deir al-Zahrani.

The Netanyahu Government said the attacks were in response to the serious wounding of three Israeli soldiers by a Hezbollah attack in the Ali Taher ridge area of southern Lebanon overnight. It insisted that the Ansar killings occurred because “Hezbollah deliberately put civilians in that military compound”.

But Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said of the “extremely dangerous”, undermining efforts to establish stability in the south, “The seven martyrs in the Israeli strike on Ansar town were not ‘military infrastructure’, and the children and women killed were not military targets.”

Israel declared that one of the two victims in Deir al-Zahrani was a “senior Hezbollah commander”, Ali Muhammad Fakhr al-Din. The Israeli military later said it killed Abu Hassan Alaa, another senior commander.

Israeli forces continued to dismantle homes and other sites as they establish the zone of occupation in the south. The latest operations were in and near Bint Jbeil, with the demolition of houses and firing of heavy machineguns towards residential areas.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz promised more assaults in both Lebanon and Gaza, where the Israelis have expanded their occupation to almost 70% of the Strip.

“No account on any front will remain unsettled,” Katz posted. “We will forcefully defend our soldiers and citizens.”

Israel and the Lebanese Government on June 3 and have held several sets of talks brokered by the US. Hezbollah is not part of the agreement.
