I spoke with Dublin NewsTalk’s Sean Moncrieff on Monday about a curious but telling case: the “administrative suspension” of Donald Trump’s long-term teleprompter operator, Gabriel Perez, over his betting on prediction markets.

I detail how Perez was caught after making more than $100,000 by betting on words that would appear in Trump’s speeches. I point out how the case illustrates the need for effective regulation of the markets to prevent political and financial manipulation.

At the same time, I consider how Perez has been punished while others in the Trump camp — including Donald Trump — have made billions of dollars off their positions, using their own inside information and exploitation of their powers.
