EA-Ukraine Video: The Economic Walls Close on Russia’s Invasion — Will Trump Rescue The Kremlin?
In a 27-minute discussion, EA correspondent Cormac Smith speaks with Frontline’s Philip Ingram about Ukraine’s counter-attacks against Russia’s invasion, including the prospect that Kyiv can regain Crimea.
Cormac explains Ukraine’s three-pronged approach: 1) Pushing back Russia on frontlines: 2) “decimating Russia’s logistics chain”, including supplies to Crimea, occupied since 2014; and 3) long-range strikes inside Russia.
A lot of people have been saying that Crimea is a step too far. I can tell you it is not.
[Ukraine President] Volodymyr Zelensky said a year and a half ago, “This war began with Crimea. And it will end with Crimea.”
Cormac evaluates Russia’s response with mass missile and drone assaults trying to break the will of the Ukrainian people.
There is a question about how much truth Vladimir Putin is being told by his generals and whether he believes that his war is going better than it is.
He is now trying to terrorize the Ukrainian people with these attacks which are clearly war crimes.
Cormac also discusses a Russia-owned aluminum plant that is still allowed to operate in western Ireland despite international sanctions on Moscow.
