UPDATES: US-Israel Wars, Day 81 — Alleged Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire Extended By 45 Days
I joined India’s WION on Sunday to explain why Israel is continuing deadly attacks on southern Lebanon despite a supposed ceasefire.
The ceasefire between the Israeli and Lebanese Government was announced on April 16 and extended last Thursday for 45 days. However, it does not include the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
Israel says it is targeting Hezbollah, which is firing on Israeli military positions both in southern Lebanon and northern Israel. However, many of those slain are women, children, and paramedics.
Since March 2, the Israelis have killed almost 3,000 people. Around 1.2 million people — about 20% of Lebanon’s population — have been displaced, and more than 10,000 homes have been demolished as Israel establishes a zone of occupation throughout the south.
