Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky summarizes this week’s Russian strikes:

UPDATE 0744 GMT:

The Trump Administration’s sanctions waiver for countries purchasing Russia’s maritime oil shipments has lapsed.

The waiver expired at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday.

The Administration instituted a one-month waiver in March as its war on Iran spiked global oil and gas prices, and renewed it in mid-April.

Russian oil revenues recovered in March after falling 47% in January and February. However, they dropped again in April because of the effects of Ukraine’s strikes on refineries, terminals, and ports.

ORIGINAL ENTRY: Ukraine has launched its largest drone attack on and near Moscow, just over a day after President Volodymyr Zelensky pledged that Russia’s mass killings of Ukrainian civilians would not “go unpunished”.

The assault began late Saturday, continuing into the early hours of Sunday. By around 3:30 a.m., Russian authorities claimed that at least 73 drones had been shot down, with air defense systems intercepting incoming UAVs.

The officials declared that at least three people had been killed and residential buildings damaged. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said the oil refinery in Kapotnya was targeted, but operations were not disrupted.

Reports mentioned explosions in the Moscow’s region Khimki, Klin, and Zelenograd; activity near Sheremetyevo Airport; and blasts in central Moscow.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed air defenses destroyed 556 Ukrainian drones overnight across a dozen Russian regions, occupied Crimea, and the Black and Azov Seas.

Zelensky’s warning was prompted by Russian attacks on Wednesday and Thursday that murdered 38 civilians and wounded more than 150. The invaders fired more than 1,600 drones and scores of missiles across Ukraine.
