EA-Times Radio Special: Trump Camp Wobbles Over US-Israel War on Iran
UPDATES: US-Israel War on Iran, Day 23: Contradictory Signals from a Cornered Trump Administration
In a 50-minute special, I joined the podcast A Chicken In Every Pot to analyze the chaos and destruction of Donald Trump and his inner circle.
The co-hosts are University College Cork’s Dr. Clodagh Harrington and University of Leicester’s Dr. Alex Waddan.
I begin with an assessment of the St. Patrick’s Day visit of Irish Taioseach Micheál Martin to the White House, assessing how he successfully navigated — and pushed back gently — Trump’s rants and insults.
Then I take a deep dive into how we got to Trump, the former self-declared “President of Peace”, joining Israel into strikes on Iran that is now an “uncontained war” without any plan to complete it.
Trump wants to be heralded for “peace”. But as a businessman and a politician, he’s the guy who wants to punch somebody in the nose.
I examine the uncertainty and conflict unleashed across the Middle East, then go back to the US: at what point will domestic pressure force a Trumpian retreat? Can anyone give him a face-saving off ramp to end his war?
