EA on International Media: What Next After Israel-US Killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader?

EA-Byline Times VideoCast: “An Illegal War” — Israel, Trump, and Iran

I joined PoliticsJOE’s Ava Santina on Monday to examine the significance of the Israel-US war on Iran not only for the region but for American domestic politics.

I begin with concern for my Iranian friends and colleagues, who have suffered under the regime — including with the mass killing of protesters in January — but also under the bombs dropped by Israel and the US.

I review how the war started, scuttling talks to limit Iran’s nuclear program, and how Iran is retaliating.

If the Trump camp and Israel thought this would be easy — once they killed the Supreme Leader, “Done. Easy. Victory is Ours” — that is not where we are now.

We now have an uncontained conflict. We do not know how far this can spread.

I take apart the Trump camp’s arguments over an imminent threat from Iran’s nuclear program so I can highlight their overriding motive: US dominance.

And then I explain why that quest could run into domestic difficulties.

A war with Iran does not help the American economy. And it does not bury the Epstein Files.

Now Trump’s critics, including some Republicans, can say, “We still want transparency and accountability over Epstein. But now you have given us the Iran issue as well.”
