Gabi Eisenkot of the Yashar Party at an election night rally in Israel, October 27, 2026

EA on Pakistan TV and India’s WION: Will Israel’s Elections Change Situation of Palestine?

I joined India’s WION to discuss the possibilities of a new Israel Government after inconclusive elections on October 27.

As opposition leader Gabi Eisenkot is tasked to make the first attempt, I go through the options:

  • A coalition with Israel’s Arab parties, after a record return of 19 seats in the 120-member Knesset — but Eisenkot has made no commitment and some party leaders like the hard-right Avigdor Lieberman are firmly opposed.
  • A coalition excluding Arabs but including Orthodox Jewish parties — but that would undermine the opposition’s commitment for Haredis to carry out national service.
  • A grand coalition with current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — but all opposition leaders have stood against Netanyahu, and he has rejected them.

I conclude with the prospect that Israel, as it did from 2019 to 2021, goes into another election.
