UPDATE 0556 GMT:

The UK will provide Ukraine with £54 million ($71 million) in humanitarian and energy funding, Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband announced during a trip to Kyiv on Thursday.

The package includes £20 million ($26 million) in funding for emergency repairs to Ukraine’s energy grids and for back-up generators and solar power sources. Another £34 million ($45 million) will be invested in the securing of heating and the maintenance of water infrastructure.

UPDATE 0548 GMT:

In overnight attacks on several Russian regions, Ukraine reportedly struck oil infrastructure and a factory manufacturing fuel components for Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles.

Monitoring channel Exilenova+, citing residents, reported flashes from explosions and smoke in the area of the Redkino Experimental Plant in the Tver region. The sanctioned plant, which produces components of Decilin-M rocket fuel, was previously struck in February 2026. Around 6,000 first-person-view drones and their components were destroyed.

NASA’s FIRMS platform reported that the oil depot, north of the city of Belgorod, was set ablaze.

UPDATE 0541 GMT:

Much of Kyiv lost power Thursday amid a Russian attack on energy infrastructure.

Most neighborhoods endured outages throughout the day. The metro was shut down. Many residents reported a lack of running water.

As of 12:30 a.m. on Friday, areas on the left bank of the Dnipro River remained without power. Ukraine’s State electrical operator, Ukrenergo, announced limits to electricity consumption on certain regions of the country.

At least 33 civilians were murdered and 22 wounded by a Russian glide bomb strike on two minibuses in Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine on Thursday.

The buses were set afire. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that two of the slain could not be identified because of the severity of their injuries.

The Kramatorsk and Sloviansk military administrations, near the frontline in the Donetsk region, ordered a halt to all public transport.

Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin posted:

Russia comes to the Ukrainian land with death. She hits our cities, kills our people and multiplies her crimes every day.

The Russians are targeting civilians. For them, a bus with passengers is an attractive target precisely because one hit can kill as many people as possible.

Four more civilians were killed and six injured across Donetsk on Thursday morning.

Zelensky pledged, “This strike will not go without our response. Russia is trying to destroy all life in Donbas, and the world needs to react to this.”
