I joined Ukrainian journalist Daniel Tkiie on Monday for a 22-minute analysis of the latest maneuvers to end Russia’s 55-month full-scale invasion.

I describe the initiative to bring Moscow into negotiations, including a trilateral meeting between Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, Vladimir Putin, and Donald Trump.

I explain the tactic. Russia will almost certainly refuse, as it seeks to break Ukraine with winter airstrikes. That refusal will then be the basis of an effort to isolate Moscow politically and to put more economic and military pressure on it with sanctions and Ukrainian counter-attacks.
