Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned a shootout on Thursday between members of Ukraine’s intelligence and security services.

The gunfire in Kyiv injured three officers of the internal security service SBU and the military intelligence service GUR.

Reports said the violence erupted when the SBU detained the deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, an anti-Kremlin unit that fights for Ukraine under the watch of the GUR.

Zelensky said the situation was “absolutely shameful”, firing a senior officer of the SBU and calling in prosecutors and investigators:

Here in Ukraine, shooting is only permissible at Russian occupiers in defence of Ukraine. Our state will not perceive any other shootout as something that anyone is allowed to do.

The video shows how the parties switch to raised tones, then a shot is heard and the Alpha specialists begin fire. It was not possible to identify who fired first from this video.

3 GUR employees were injured.
