UPDATES: US-Israel Wars, Day 105 — Iran and US Escalate Attacks on Each Other
UPDATE 2141 GMT:
Donald Trump has posted that “the Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is complete”.
Trump said the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened in return for the lifting of the US blockade on Iranian ports.
UPDATE 2122 GMT:
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says a US-Iran framework deal is in place and mediators will arrange a series of meetings this week.
Sharif said the ceasefire covers Israel’s attacks in Lebanon. A signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday in Switzerland.
Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in…

UPDATE 2102 GMT:
Iran’s Foreign Ministry is holding the US directly responsible for Israel’s attacks breaking the ceasefire in Lebanon.
Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to the Supreme Leader and a former Foreign Minister, said:
A computational error in Beirut exhausted patience, and the order was issued. Zero hour has arrived, and the launchers are preparing.
If the fire of mischief in Lebanon is not extinguished, the two powerful geographic arms – Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab – will squeeze your economic lifelines to the point of strategic suffocation.
President Masoud Pezeshkian added, “We will not bow down to any power, but we consider ourselves responsible and accountable to the Iranian people and their legitimate demands.”
UPDATE 1806 GMT:
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has indicated that Tehran will retaliate over Israel’s strikes on a Beirut suburb.
The response of the fighters of Islam is imminent. Lebanon is our life and violation of the red lines of the Islamic Republic will not be tolerated.
UPDATE 1744 GMT:
Donald Trump has insisted that a framework deal with Iran will be signed within hours, while fuming at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s over Israel’s strikes on a Beirut suburb.
In a phone call with Axios, Trump said the Israeli attack “shook it up” and “delayed the signing by a few hours”. He snapped:
It is so bad – I couldn’t believe it. An hour before we are supposed to sign the deal….
Why did Bibi [Netanyahu] have to do a fucking attack? I was so pissed off. I let him know. He has no fucking judgement. I let him know that.
Trump added to Fox TV that he asked Netanyahu, “What the fuck are you doing?”
He said he will ask Iran not to retaliate.
A “senior Israeli official close to Netanyahu” told Israel’s Channel 12:
Trump’s statement is a resounding slap in the face. The restrictions [on Israel] have been taken to another level. The expectation that we will not strike anywhere in Lebanon is incompatible with the behavior of a strategic ally.
Sources claimed Trump recently proposed that Israel withdraw from southern Lebanon as part of the framework deal with Iran. Netanyahu rejected the idea outright.
UPDATE 1459 GMT:
The deputy commander of Iran’s military, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Jafar Asadi, says of Israel’s strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, “Without a doubt, these crimes will not go unanswered.”
Israeli and American officials say Israel’s military notified US Central Command shortly before the strikes.
However, Donald Trump posted that the attack “should not have happened…when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran”. He said Israel should not have responded to “very small and meaningless” drones launched by Hezbollah across the border: “Nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and [this] should not disrupt this important process.”
The assault raises more questions about the fate of the US-Iran framework deal. Citing a source “close” to the Iranian negotiating team, the Revolutionary Guards-linked Fars outlet says, “No agreement will definitely be signed at the time Trump announced.”
UPDATE 1301 GMT:
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has posted in response to Israel’s attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The Zionists’ incursion into Dahiyeh has once again shown that America either lacks the will to fulfill its commitments or the ability to do so. By giving the green light to the regime, you cannot gain concessions. The game of bad cop and good cop is outdated.
If you lack the will and ability to fulfill your commitments, speaking of continuing the path is not possible.
UPDATE 1227 GMT:
Israel has carried out more airstrikes on Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Lebanon’s capital Beirut.
At least three people were killed and 15 wounded by four guided missiles fired by two warplanes.
The Israeli military claimed it attacked a Hezbollah command center after the Lebanese group launched three drones into northern Israel this morning.
Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s Foreign Policy and National Security Committee, posted:
If you seek an agreement or understanding, you must discipline the Zionist regime. If this rabid dog is not controlled, it will bite your leg before the ink is dry on the agreement.
UPDATE 0903 GMT:
Citing an informed source, the Revolutionary Guards-linked Fars outlet says Iran has not yet taken a final decision on the framework agreement to end the US war.
The source said a review of the memorandum of understanding’s political, legal, and technical aspects is ongoing at expert and decision-making levels.
Qatar, mediating the negotiations, is sending a delegation including an advisor to the Prime Minister.
UPDATE, JUNE 14:
Following artillery shelling on the towns of Majdal Zoun and al-Mansouri, Israeli troops are advancing in southern Lebanon.
Majdal Zoun is to the north of Israel’s “forward defense line” of occupation.
On Friday, Hezbollah published a statement claiming to have thwarted an Israeli advance on Majdal Zoun by ambushing troops.
UPDATE 1525 GMT:
Iran’s Foreign Ministry says signature of a framework deal with the US will not be on Sunday.
Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the possibility of signature in the coming days cannot be ruled out, but caution is needed due to the “hesitation of the other side”, the Trump Administration.
UPDATE 1314 GMT:
Neither the Iranian regime nor the Trump camp have confirmed a claim by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, mediating for an end to the US-Israel War, that a framework deal will be signed electronically on Sunday.
Shehbaz Sharif said the signature would be followed by technical talks next week.
We are closer to a peace deal than ever before. With finalisation likely expected in the next 24 hours, Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace deal immediately after, followed by technical level talks next week.
We would like to thank United States of…
— Shehbaz Sharif (@CMShehbaz) June 13, 2026
Sharif later spoke with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani but said only, “We exchanged views on the latest developments regarding the landmark peace deal. We remain hopeful that this historic endeavour would lay a strong foundation for lasting peace and stability across the region.”
UPDATE 1132 GMT:
Israel has issued forced evacuation orders for four more towns and villages in southern Lebanon.
Residents of Ghassaniyeh, al-Zrariyeh, Mazraet Kothriyat al-Riz, and Sayr al-Gharbiyeh have been commanded to move north of Zahrani River.
UPDATE 0902 GMT:
Israel has killed Ali Badie, the mayor of the Ar-Rihan municipality in the Jezzine district of southern Lebanon.
The circumstances of the killing were not immediately available. However, drone attacks were reported on Ar-Rihan and nearby Kfar Hounah.
UPDATE 0741 GMT:
The Israel Defense Forces have issued forced evacuation orders to residents of 20 towns and villages across southern Lebanon, ahead of airstrikes.
Many of the areas are near the city of Nabatieh.
People have been commanded to move north of the Zahrani River.
UPDATE, JUNE 13:
US Central Command says its forces downed multiple Iranian drones trying to hit commercial vessels in the tSrait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM said all of the UAVs were intercepted.
UPDATE 1952 GMT:
The UAE has agreed to unlock billions of dollars for Iran, as Tehran seeks the unfreezing of $24 billion and at least $300 billion in reconstruction funds in a framework deal with the US.
Two regional sources said the UAE has agreed to release a total of $10 billion, with more than $3 billion already been delivered. Two other sources with knowledge of the arrangement put the total at $20 billion, in return for a halt to Iranian attacks on the UAE.
UPDATE 1701 GMT:
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has posted:
Amid ongoing intense mediation efforts by Pakistan, we are fully aware of incessant misinformation campaign being waged by those who want to sabotage the peace deal.
Setting aside the noise, we can confirm that a final, agreed upon text of the peace deal has been reached and Pakistan is now working closely with both sides to finalize the next steps. Peace has never been this close as it is now.
UPDATE 1557 GMT:
Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has posted:
The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer. Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content.
In line with our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be shared with the public in due course.
— Seyed Abbas Araghchi (@araghchi) June 12, 2026
Significantly, Donald Trump has reposted the message.
UPDATE 1502 GMT:
Qatar has denied a claim in The Washington Post that it coordinated with Iran on a “secret deal” to protect energy production sites from attack.
Doha’s International Media Office said the allegations as “entirely unfounded” and “particularly implausible given that Qatar was actively defending its territory against Iranian missile attacks at the time”.
It accused the sources of seeking “to sabotage ongoing efforts to mediate an end to the conflict, damage Qatar’s reputation, and undermine the strategic partnership between Qatar and the United States”.
A “senior regional security official” told the Post that Qatar pledged to use leverage over gas supplies to help bring the war to a swift end while seeking Iran’s commitment on “one condition: you are not going to attack us”.
A “second official with access to the same intelligence” framed that Qatar’s message to Iran as “you will achieve your objectives without striking us”.
Qatar did not secure a commitment from Iran, the officials said. However, they said the possibility of a tacit understanding remained on track.
UPDATE 1429 GMT:
The Revolutionary Guards-linked outlet Fars, citing “a source close to the negotiating team”, says reports of Iran signing a framework agreement with the US in Geneva on Sunday are false.
Iranian State news agency IRNA added that
Iran “in no way” committed to handing over its management of the Strait of Hormuz, and said the US “will have no role whatsoever”.
Earlier today, the Iranian outlet Mehr published a claimed version of the framework with terms highly favourable to Iran.
A permanent ceasefire on all fronts includes Israel’s attacks in Lebanon. The US would commit to “non-interference in Iran’s internal affairs”, lifting its naval blockade within 30 days and withdrawing forces from around Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz will be reopened within 30 days “with Iranian arrangements”. US sanctions on Iranian oil will be lifted as Washington and other countries draw up reconstruction plans for Iran “worth at least $300 billion”. Iran will receive $24 billion of unfrozen assets.
There will then be 60 days of negotiations to reach a final agreement “based on nuclear issues and the complete lifting of” sanctions.
Donald Trump angrily posted that the published terms have “nothing to do” with the actual text, and that the Iranians are “very dishonorable people”.
UPDATE 0547 GMT:
The US and Iran have returned to skirmishes in the Strait of Hormuz.
An American official said the US military shot down two Iranian drones that were trying to strike commercial ships in the waterway early Friday.
Iran’s Tasnim outlet says Iranian forces stopped an oil tanker from transiting through the Strait “after it entered the area without prior coordination”.
ORIGINAL ENTRY: Iran has pushed back Donald Trump’s claim — made only hours after Trump threatened a ground invasion to seize Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf — that Washington and Tehran will soon sign a framework deal to end the US war.
Trump posted on social media on Thursday afternoon that he was cancelling his threat of “scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening” because “discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved”.
He later told reporters that any operation to seize Kharg Island, through which 90% of Iran’s oil exports pass, had been put off.
Trump gave no details of the deal. Instead, he blustered that “discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved”, including the US, Israel, the Gulf States, Turkey, Pakistan, Jordan, and Egypt.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei responded that large parts of the framework deal with the US have been completed, but Tehran has not made a final decisiSheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thanion on approval.
He pushed back Trump’s claims, stating that reports regarding a time and place of signing the agreement remain speculative. Iran would not compromise on its “red lines”, as the Trump camp had repeatedly changed its position.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office emphasized that Israel “is not a party” to any memorandum of understanding.
Qatar’s Mediation
Qatar, which has replaced Pakistan as the primary mediator, and Iran have been working to complete the framework deal. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Qatari envoy Ali Al-Thawadi reportedly worked late into Wednesday night on an agreement.
Key issues include the release of frozen Iranian assets, management of a reopened Strait of Hormuz, and Iran’s nuclear program.
Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, spoke with Trump on Thursday.
A “diplomat briefed on the talks” said that the deal had largely been agreed to several weeks ago but there was still a “50% chance” that it would collapse. “There are a lot of potential spoilers,” they cautioned.
The basis for the mediation has been an Iranian two-stage proposal. In the first, arrangements would be established for the passage of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has controlled since early March. In return, US sanctions would be gradually lifted, some Iranian assets outside the country would be unfrozen, and the US naval blockade on Iranian ports would be lifted.
Iran’s nuclear program would be discussed in the second stage of talks.
The Trump Administration came close to accepting the terms almost three weeks ago. However, it backed away, apparently because of criticism that it was conceding too much to the Iranians.
US Military “Confused” By Trump Retreat
Two US officials said the US military was around three hours from launching strikes on Iran when Trump called them off with his claim of an imminent deal.
The military had selected targets, and the Navy had adjusted operational plans and readied munitions. The pattern would have been similar to American assaults on Iranian islands and southern coast on the previous two nights.
The officials said Trump’s abrupt cancellation “confused” the military.
