EA-Times Radio VideoCast: Despite Trump, Russia Isn’t “Winning” in Ukraine

Ukraine War, Day 1,224: Trump Administration Again Halts Arms to Kyiv

I joined Times Radio’s Frontline on Wednesday for a 33-minute evaluation of the status of Russia’s 40-month, full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

I consider the position of the aggressor, looking at Vladimir Putin’s attempt to weather the economic challenges of maintaining his assault.

Putin is dangling the idea before Russians, “I am going to win, win, win in Ukraine and then I am going to cut defense spending.”

That shows you Putin knows that not everyone is completely happy with this.

I analyze the resistance of Ukraine and whether it can be sustained amid the damaging uncertainty, and possible withdrawal, of the Trump Administration — including the overnight suspension of further arms deliveries to Kyiv.

Not just Ukraine, not just Europe, but the international community — countries like Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea — have to plan without assuming a reliable alliance with the Kremlin.

I take the survey beyond a largely-stagnant frontline to look at Russia’s daily missile and drone strikes on Ukraine’s civilians, and at the Ukrainian counter with assaults behind the frontlines on Russian facilities supporting the invasion and mass killing.

And host Philip Ingram and I discuss to what extent Moscow can maintain its war with the assistance of North Korea, Iran, and/or China.
