UPDATE 1045 GMT:

Russia launched 479 drones and 20 missiles across Ukraine overnight.

Ukraine’s Air Force said it shot down 292 of the weapons, and 189 were lost to electronic counter-warfare.

In the Kyiv region, air‑raid sirens lasted over ten hours. No casualties were reported. Two houses, a car, and an outbuilding were damaged.

Casualties were reported in the Rivne region in the northwest, amid the largest attack in the area during Russia’s invasion, and in the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Sumy regions.


UPDATE 1036 GMT:

Ukraine special forces have reportedly destroyed two more Russian warplanes, just over a week after drone attacks on six airfields demolished around 13 and damaged at least another dozen.

The General Staff said the forces assaulted the Savasleyka airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia, around 400 miles from the Ukrainian border.

The airfield is a base for MiG-31K fighters carrying Kinzhal ballistic missiles, used in attacks on Ukraine’s civilians as well as military personnel.

“According to preliminary information, two units of enemy aircraft were hit (probably MiG-31 and Su-30/34 aircraft),” the General Staff said. “The results of the combat operation are being clarified.”


UPDATE 0705 GMT:

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky says Russia has still not submitted the full list of more than 1,000 prisoners of war for an exchange.

The 1,000-for-1,000 swap was agreed in last Monday’s second set of Ukraine-Russia talks in Istanbul. It was supposed to take place over the weekend, with 600 bodies on each side also being repatriated.

“The full lists from Russia — over 1,000 people, as agreed in Istanbul — unfortunately, are still missing,” Zelensky said on Sunday night. “As always, the Russian side is trying to turn even this issue into a dirty political and informational game.”

Ukrainian officials said on Saturday that the exchange had been postponed to this week because of technical issues. Russian propagandists declared that Kyiv was pulling out of the agreement.


UPDATE 0612 GMT:

Media in France report that Renault is the car manufacturer who will partner with a small French defense company to equip drone production lines on Ukrainian territory.

The plans for production were reported last week. with the drones for Ukrainian forces and for exercises for French troops.


UPDATE 0545 GMT:

Vladyslav Horai, a renowned tenor and soloist of the Odesa National Opera, has been killed while volunteering with Ukraine’s military.

Horai was slain in the Sumy region in the northeast, where Russian forces are trying to advance in the border area.

The Odesa opera posted, “A tragic loss has shaken the entire Ukrainian arts community….Vladyslav was not just a talent of the stage — he was an example of strength, dignity, and kindness in life.”

Horai, a member of the opera troupe since 1993, was named an Honored Artist of Ukraine in 2013.

“Even in the darkest of times, he never stood aside — he helped, volunteered, supported. The Odesa National Opera is in mourning. The stage on which he lived will sound different without him,” the opera posted.


UPDATE 0540 GMT:

Ukrainian drones have damaged a Russian facility specializing in development of electronic warfare systems to jam satellite, radio, and radar signals.

JSC VNIIR-Progress facility, in Cheboksary in the Chuvashia Republic in western Russia, is on fire after explosions. The plant is around 1,000 km (620 miles) from the Ukrainian border.

Oleg Nikolayev, the head of the Chuvashia Republic, acknowledged strikes by two drones: “The responsible decision was made to temporarily suspend production to ensure the safety of employees.”

ORIGINAL ENTRY: In its latest drone and missile attacks across Ukraine, Russia has targeted the west of the country, including areas near the Polish border.

At least one person was injured in Rivne in the northwest. Emergency responders are still at work on the scene with the exact damage and any further casualties being assessed.

Governor Oleksandr Koval said, “Our region suffered a powerful enemy air strike”.

Explosions were also reported in other cities including the capital Kyiv. An office building in the Darnytsia district was damaged.

Poland’s air forces scrambled fighter jets amid the attacks. It posted on social media, “The steps taken are aimed at ensuring security in the regions bordering the areas at risk.”

In his nightly address to the nation, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky focused on political and military discussions to push back the Russians.

Russia only truly understands one language — the language of force. That is precisely the language that must become the working one across all formats of international engagement in the coming months.
