EA on TVP World: Trump, Putin, and Ukraine’s Resistance

EA-Times Radio VideoCast: Trump — The Snake-Oil Salesman Who Got Played Like A Fiddle

I joined a panel on RTE Radio 1’s Brendan O’Connor Show on Sunday for a 55-minute Week in Review of Ireland, the Middle East, and the world.

The other panelists are rights activist Ailbhe Smyth, former Twitter executive Sinead McSweeney, and Oisin Coghlan, former director of Friends of the Earth Ireland.

We begin with analysis of the state of LGBTQ rights in Ireland, on the 10th anniversary of the Marriage Equality Referndum. There is much to celebrate, but also a long way to go, for example, with the rights and protection of transgender people.

Then we explain and evaluate Israel’s plan for long-term occupation of Gaza as it escalates the mass killing of civilians through bombing and denial of humanitarian aid.

We move to the exploitation of Donald Trump by Gulf states as they flattered and dazzled him on his tour.

I briefly summarize the state of Ukraine’s resistance of Russia’s 39-month full-scale invasion and Vladimir Putin’s determination to conquer it.

And there’s a discussion of whether Irish universities should try to attract US-based academics threatened by the harassment and repression of the Trump Administration.
