Trump is pushing the boundaries on every aspect of Presidential power.

Trump wants to be King Donald or an emperor. He’s issuing executive orders and trying to rule by fiat.

When courts rule he has broken the law, he has found ways to work around that.

UPDATE 1121 GMT:

I joined Morning Ireland on RTE Radio 1 to discuss the finding, by US District Judge James Boasberg, that there is “probable cause” the Trump Administration is in contempt of court over its “disappearance” of immigrants in a foreign prison.

This could draw a line against the Administration’s effective attempt to override and disregard judicial authority. You cannot just “disappear” people. You have to abide when courts say they have to have due process of law and you have to bring them back.

We also analyze the Trump Administration’s attempt to take control of Harvard University, beginning with its withholding of $2.2 billion in government funding and continuing with the threat to remove its tax-exempt status and to block its intake of international students.

I spoke with BBC Radio Scotland on Thursday morning about Donald Trump’s regime, beginning with the defiance of the judiciary over the “disappearance” of legal immigrants in a foreign prison.

Let’s call this disregard of the judiciary, including the Supreme Court, for what it is: this means that the US effectively has an authoritarian government.

The Trump Administration has laid down the marker that they do not recognize judiciary authority. To do that, they will put out blatant falsehoods.

The Trump Administration is no longer a wannabe autocracy. It is an authoritarian regime.

To explain the development and the danger, Pat Kenny takes me through the Administration’s illegal and unconstitutional attempt to break universities, gut US agencies, and “disappear” legal migrants with no evidence, no due process, and not even a list of names.
