EA on International Media: The Awful 1st 100 Days of Trump 2.0
I joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Anton Savage Show on Saturday to discuss the Trump Administration’s assault on scholars, researchers, and academics.
I begin with harassment and interrogation by US immigration. I describe how I learned that several faculty of a leading UK university were questioned and their mobile devices seized as they tried to enter America, prompting the university to advise all staff to delete social media apps or use burner phones in the future.
I note the scholars who are now cancelling attendance at conference and research stays in the US. And I evaluate the surveillance, deportation, and even detention of foreign nationals researching and studying at American universities.
