Ukraine War, Day 1,100: Trump — No US Security Guarantee for Kyiv v. Russia’s Invasion
I joined Times Radio and BBC 5 Live on Thursday to analyze the dysfunctional Trump-Musk Administration and how it is threatening the security of Ukraine and Europe.

As part of a package including Times Radio’s correspondents, I chat with John Pienaar about the links between a US-Ukraine minerals deal, security guarantees for Kyiv, and the visits to Washington of French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
“It’s a viable plan but it all depends on getting adults in the room in the Trump Administration,” I summarize.
The challenge?
Donald Trump is acting as a businessman, the head of the Trump Organization, rather than as a US President who is interested in security of the US, let alone Ukraine or Europe.

Speaking with Chris Warburton, I begin with the very dark comedy of Donald Trump’s first Cabinet meeting, with Elon Musk at the center of the televised stage.
After taking apart Musk and Trump’s show of ego and disinformation — prompting the program to insert a clip of Musk for “balance” — I outline Trump’s attempt to get minerals from Ukraine while refusing to ensure its security.
