EA on Australia’s ABC: Israel’s Invasion of Lebanon
UPDATE, OCT 10:
Joining India’s WION on Wednesday, EA’s David Dunn assesses Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s call on the Lebanese people to “rise up” against Hezbollah, and why it is likely to fail.
He then discusses Netanyahu’s phone call with US President Joe Biden about a possible Israeli attack on Iran.
There is nothing to suggest the situation will change. Biden has spent over a year pleading for restraint from Netanyahu, and Netanyahu has more or less done his own thing.
Netanyahu has nothing to gain from making concessions to the Americans.
ORIGINAL ENTRY, OCT 8: I joined Ireland’s The Tonight Show on Monday in discussions marking the anniversary of Hamas’s mass killings inside Israel, followed by Israel’s mass killings in Gaza, targeted assassinations, and aerial and ground assault in Lebanon.
The other contributors are Linda Dayan of Israel’s Haaretz newspaper; Channel 4’s Matt Frei; Karol Balfe of Action Aid Ireland; Irish MEP Billy Kelleher; and John Mooney of the Irish Times. The host is Ciara Doherty

Netanyahu has failed but he has succeeded.
There was trauma and death in Israel last October 7. Benjamin Netanyahu exploited that trauma to save his political and legal position.
By going after Hamas, he got himself some breathing space. But last month, he was back under a great deal of pressure inside Israel over the failure to return the hostages.
So how does he deal with that? He opens up the second front in Lebanon.
There is no endgame.
