EA on Monocle Radio and WION: Netanyahu Doubles Down on His “Personal” War in Gaza

UPDATE, SEPT 9:

I joined India’s WION News to analyze Israel’s latest attacks in Gaza, exchange of fire with Lebanon’s Hezbollah, and Israeli Prime Minister’s Benjamin Netanyahu undermining of any ceasefire.

Watch from 2:33:

If I had a dollar for every time that someone said a ceasefire was needed or was near these past 11 months, I’d be a very rich man.

There is a specific problem and that is Benjamin Netanyahu.

ORIGINAL ENTRY, SEPT 6: As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu undermines and possibly buries ceasefire negotiations, I joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Pat Kenny Show on Thursday to examine the latest political and military situation in Gaza.

I review how Netanyahu contradicted Israel’s negotiators with new conditions for any halt of military operations, maintaining his goal of “destroying” Hamas.

I consider whether the US and the international community can intervene. But I assess that the greatest pressure on the Prime Minister is from within Israel, with hundreds of thousands protesting, opposition leaders challenging Netanyahu’s “personal” and “forever” war, and the military and security services at odds with their commander-in-chief.

I also speak briefly about the latest mass shooting in the US, in a school in Georgia, with no prospect of any gun control to stem the killings.
