I joined Poland’s TVP World on Saturday for a 14-minute analysis of the latest developments in the US Presidential election, including the Kamala Harris campaign, the Democratic National Convention, and Robert Kennedy Jr.’s endorsement of Donald Trump.
I begin with the approach of the Harris-Walz campaign, linking it to that of Trump and Kennedy:
The campaign is emphasizing the positive, as you saw in the Convention this week and indeed ever since Harris became the nominee on July 21 — the idea of “hope makes a comeback”, bringing the joy back into politics, contrasting it with Trump’s presentation of fear, decline, and even “carnage”.
I think the campaign may get a bump by pointing out that Robert Kennedy is — I have to use this word — a “headcase”. He’s not a rational politician, despite the famous family name.
