United Auto Workers campaign over wages, pensions, and a 4-day working week (Bill Pugliano)

I joined Monocle 24’s Tom Edwards on Thursday to evaluate the political and economic consequences of a strike by US auto workers, which could begin early Friday.

I explain the causes and significance of the stoppage, which would be the first in history across the Big 3 American automobile manufacturers: General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis, the maker of Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram vehicles.

Then I pour some reality on the headlines, assessing that unless the strikes are protracted, they will have little effect on either the Biden Administration or the 2024 Presidential election.
