Donald Trump gestures to supporters after telling them to march on the US Capitol to “Stop the Steal”, January 6, 2021 (Jim Bourg/Reuters)
I joined Monocle Radio’s Emma Nelson on Monday to evaluate whether Donald Trump can be barred from the US Presidency by a clause in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which disqualifies from Federal office anyone who has been involved in “insurrection” or “rebellion”.
I explain the political and legal barriers which mean the clause is unlikely to be successfully invoked.
I also continue my challenge to the media for being Trump’s “de facto campaign staff” over their focus on The Donald and polls rather than other Republican candidates and the issues facing the US.
