Tucker Carlson with Donald Trump (Seth Wenig/AP/File)

I joined BBC 5 Live on Monday, just after the announcement that polemicist and disinformation specialist Tucker Carlson is leaving Fox TV.

Listen to Discussion from 1:31.36

I analyzed Carlson’s damage to responsible and reliable news and information, with the BBC asking about the proximity to Fox’s $787.5 million payment to Dominion Voting Systems over defamation and lies about the 2020 US Presidential election.

Subsequent to the conversation, new information — from sources inside Fox — indicated that Carlson was also fired because of allegations of sexual harassment of his production assistant.

Carlson may also have been pushed out because of his lies about the Capitol Attack of January 6, 2021. On Sunday, the high-profile news program 60 Minutes features Carlson’s disinformation targeting an Arizona man as an “FBI informant” among the attackers.
