The US has imposed more sanctions on Iran over its ballistic missile program.

The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced blacklisting of an Iranian procurement agent and his network of companies, obtaining ballistic missile propellant-related materials for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Parchin Chemical Industries. A key Iranian intermediary is also being sanctioned.

The latest sanctions come as the Vienna talks on renewal of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal have stalled, first because of Russia’s ultimatum over US sanctions on Moscow — imposed because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine — and then Iran’s demand for the removal of the Revolutionary from the US list of foreign terrorist organizations.

>Undersecretary of the Treasury Brian Nelso summarized:

This action reinforces the United States’ commitment to preventing the Iranian regime’s development and use of advanced ballistic missiles. While the United States continues to seek Iran’s return to full compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, we will not hesitate to target those who support Iran’s ballistic missile program. We will also work with other partners in the region to hold Iran accountable for its actions, including gross violations of the sovereignty of its neighbors.

The sanctioned Iranians are procurement agent Mohammad Ali Hosseini, cited by the US for” high-level meetings” with senior officials of the Revolutionary Guards and for supplies from China using falsified shipping documents. Sepehr Delijan and Jestar Sanat are designated as part of his network, and P.B. Sadr Company as an intermediary for the procurement of parts.
