Fire at the Lutsk airfield in western Ukraine after Russian bombing, March 11, 2022

I joined Austria’s Radio FM4 on Friday to discuss the possibility of a no-fly zone over western Ukraine in the face of the Russian offensive and attempted occupation of much of the country.

I consider the recent episode of the US veto of the transfer of Poland’s MiG-29 jet fighters to Ukraine, and the subsequent call by Polish officials for the no-fly zone of its neighbor to the east. I analyze whether a Russian occupation of Kyiv, with the Ukrainian Government moving to the west of the country, could change the political and military dynamics.
