UPDATE, AUGUST 17:

In a 15-minute discussion, I chatted with Times Radio’s Alexis Conran about the latest political developments from Kamala Harris’s ascendancy to Vice Presidential nominee to Donald Trump’s struggles, lies, and attempt to sabotage November’s election.

Listen from 1:06.09

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris sought to emphasize the leadership and responsibility which are the themes of the campaign, and the polls reflected that immediately.

Harris gained ground with all groups — white, black, Hispanic — really strengthened her position with Democrats, and even won a bit of support among Republicans.

We deal with the Trump campaign’s attempted smear that Harris might not be a US citizen, a maneuver which soon backfired, and Trump’s tactics of “culture war” and a willingness to “blow this election up”.

ORIGINAL ENTRY: In our latest 15-minute US Week in Review, I joined talkRADIO’s Nick DeBois to discuss the good week of Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris v. the bad week of Donald Trump.

Listen from 15:13 in 1830-1900 Segment

I discuss Harris’s rise from prosecutor to her possible role as America’s first African American, Asian American, and woman Vice President. Questioned closely by DeBois, I explain why Harris is not overshadowing a weak Presidential nominee Joe Biden, but complementing an increasingly confident Democratic ticket.

I think the past few days have shown how this is going. Joe Biden has recovered from a rough start in the Democratic primaries, and is now more than holding his own. Harris, very effective, is always emphasizing how she is working with him, following his lead, and not trying to steal the limelight.

We then look at Trump’s attempt at a PR victory with the exaggerated declaration of an Israel-UAE “peace agreement”, his camp’s failed smear that Harris may not be a US citizen, and — as he trails Biden-Harris in polls — of his sabotage of the Postal Service and November’s election.
