I joined Al Jazeera’s Inside Story on Saturday to discuss what happens now after the failure of the 35-day Trump Showdown.

Will Trump maintain his ultimatum for The Wall with Mexico? Can he, via another threatened shutdown or even a national emergency? And what damage has he already caused to millions of Americans?

The other panellists are Leon Fresco, former Deputy Assistant Attorney General in charge of immigration, and Republican strategist Joe Watkins, an official in the George W. Bush Administration.

Like the wannabe tough guy who gets knocked down but gets up and says, “I’ll show you!”, Trump declares he can shut this Government down again or even declare a national emergency.

I don’t think he can get away with it. But that’s different from Donald Trump thinking he can get away with it.
