I spoke with Austria’s Radio FM4 about the latest disfunctional developments in the White House, with an angry, frightened Donald Trump lashing out and Melania Trump contributing with her demand for the firing of Deputy National Security Advisor Mira Ricardel.
The story begins with a personality clash with Melania Trump, but in a disfunctional White House, there are wider disputes. It may well be there were other elements, especially within the Pentagon, who thought Ricardel had to go — but if the Pentagon says, “That’s it, fire her”, this threatens splits within the Administration.
It’s easier if, whatever the real reasons, this gets pinned on Melania.
We also look at the next key staff member — Chief of Staff John Kelly? Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen? — to be chucked out: “No one is safe in this Administration.”
