Embroiled in issues of misogyny over his conduct and that of his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Donald Trump has responded by telling White House correspondent Cecilia Vega, “You’re not thinking. You never do.”

The encounter happened when Vega, who works for the US outlet ABC News, sought ask Trump a question during his press conference outside the White House over the renamed North American Free Trade Agreement.

Trump joked with his entourage, “She’s shocked I picked her. She’s in a state of shock.”

Vega responded, “I’m not, thank you Mr. President.” Trump then fired his insult, as the men around him — including son-in-law Jared Kushner and Treasury Secretary Jared Kushner, laughed.

Taken aback, the reporter said, “I’m sorry?” Trump pressed, “Go ahead. No, go ahead.”

But when Vega asked a question about the scope of the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh. Trump rebuffed her, “What does that have to do with trade? I don’t mind answering the question. But, you know, I’d like to do the trade questions, too.” She complied by asked about the “US-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement”, but Trump then rejected her attempted follow-up over Kavanaugh.

Trump later circled back to Vega but meanwhile derided other women reporters. When CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked about Kavanaugh, he shouted “Don’t do that!” and wagged his finger.

Another journalist was cut off as she asked about mass shootings.
