In his latest spin on his June summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, Donald Trump says they “fell in love”.

There have been no advances since the meeting. According to US intelligence, Pyongyang is continuing its nuclear and missile programs. Kim declined to meet with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on one trip to North Korea, and Pompeo cancelled another visit because of Pyongyang’s firm line over “denuclearization” and other issues.

But Trump described his romance with Kim to a West Virginia rally on Saturday night:

We fell in love.

No, really. He wrote me beautiful letters. They were great letters.

And then we fell in love.
