Monocle 24: Trump’s Reluctant Sanctions Over Election Interference

I spoke with Monocle 24’s The Briefing on Thursday about Donald Trump’s executive order commanding sanctions on those who interfere with US elections.

I make the obvious point that these aren’t Trump’s sanctions — he has dragged his feet every step of the way on any measures against Russia or others — but those of US agencies and Congress.

So what does this mean for the forthcoming US Congressional elections and for Trump’s foreign policy, including with his friend Vladimir Putin?
