I spoke with Ireland’s RTE 1 Radio on Friday about the sexual harassment claims that have shaken US politics.

The chat ranges from the allegations against GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore in Alabama to the sudden furor over a claim about Democratic Senator Al Franken — and returns to Donald Trump’s boasts about his own sexual aggression and the 16 women who have accused him of assault.

There’s also a chat about the growing trouble for Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner over the Trump-Russia investigation.

I think that, whereas the Franken case is a ripple that will go away, the Moore case is a potential earthquake.

Because of the multiple allegations of his inappropriate behavior towards teenage women, he’s under pressure from Republican leaders to step aside from the race. But Moore is standing firm and he’s got support from the hard right of the party. I don’t Moore can stay the course but I think this will open up a rift between “moderate” Republicans and the hard right which has pledged war on the GOP establishment.
