The possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials, arising from a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Kremlin-linked lawyer, has a colorful back story.
There is the Kremlin-linked Azerbaijani-Russian tycoon Aras Agalarov, who has pursued real estate projects with the Trump family and helped Donald Trump bring the 2013 Miss Universe pageant to Moscow. (According to the dossier compiled by a former British intelligence officer, he is also the man to ask about Trump’s hotel stays in Russia, but that’s another story.)
There is Aras’ son Emin — he just goes by the single name professionally, like Madonna, Bono, or Jay-Z — who is a pop star trying to break out of Azerbaijani and Russia into the West. More importantly, he’s the go-between who told his British publicist Rob Goldstone that Russia’s Crown Prosecutor has damaging material on Hillary Clinton and would like to give it to the Trump campaign.
There’s Goldstone, a former reporter for the Daily Mail tabloid — and a judge at the 2013 Miss Universe pageant, thanks to Donald Trump Sr. — who contacted Donald Trump Jr. to set up the meeting with “Russia Government attorney” Natalia Veselnitskaya.
So, in the realm of the surreal connecting entertainment and politics, there must be a music video in all this, right?
Right — Emin’s 2013 wanna-be breakthrough smash, “In Another Life”, with a guest appearance by Donald Trump Sr.:
Oh, and here’s Trump Sr. hanging out with Aras Agalarov, Emin, and Goldstone in Las Vegas in 2013:
And here’s another video of Goldstone, performing the theme to the UK children’s show Andy Pandy:
