Iranian-American businessman Siamak Namazi has reportedly been arrested in Tehran.

Reports began circulating on October 23 that Namazi, the director of strategic planning for the Crescent oil company, was taken to Evin Prison two weeks ago after he returned to Iran to visit family.

Namazi was the long-time associate of Trita Parsi, the head of the influential National Iranian American Council. NIAC Policy Director Jamal Abdi said on Tuesday that the organization has no comment to make at this time.

Before working for Crescent, Namazi was the managing director of Atieh Bahar Consulting, based in Tehran.

The businessman has also published work for the Woodrow Wilson Center, including reports criticizing the effects of US sanctions on Iran, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the National Endowment for Democracy.

He is the fourth dual Iranian-American national in prison, joining Washington Post correspondent Jason Rezaian, Christian pastor Saeed Abedini, and former US Marine Amir Hekmati. Former FBI agent Robert Levinson has been missing in Iran since 2007.
