Islamic State fighters, continuing attacks near the oil-rich city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq, seized a small crude oil station on Saturday.

The jihadists carried out a series of attacks in and near Kirkuk, occupied by Kurdish forces, on Friday. Suicide bombers hit Kurdmerga to the south and west of the city and attacked a hotel in the center.

Two officials from the State-run North Oil Company said 15 workers at the crude oil separation unit in Khabbaz are missing and fear that they have been abducted.

The Islamic State seized at least four small oilfields in northern Iraq during an offensive last summer.

Khabbaz, 20 km (12 miles) southwest of Kirkuk, has a maximum production capacity of 15,000 barrels per day.
