At least 33 people were killed in bombings on Thursday in Iraq’s capital Baghdad and in Kurdish-controlled Kirkuk in the north of the country.
Sixteen people died from two car bombs in the mainly-Shia Sadr district of Baghdad at about 6:30 p.m. local time.
One bomb was on a narrow street with small cafes packed with people having dinner. The other was at a crowded outdoor market.
Later, a roadside bomb near a restaurant in mainly-Shia Shaab in north Baghdad killed three people and wounding 12.
In Kirkuk, occupied by Kurdish forces since the Islamic State’s offensive in June, at least 15 people were killed by a suicide car bomb outside a popular cafe.
