Writing in Foreign Policy, David Kenner knocks backs reports that the jihadist Islamic State ordered all women and girls in the Iraqi city of Mosul to undergo female genital mutilation. The claims gained traction in mainstream and on social media when United Nations resident and humanitarian coordinator in Iraq Jacqueline Badcock spoke to reporters condemning the development. The Islamic State has since denied the claims.
