Vladimir Putin (Reuters)
UPDATE 1019 GMT:
I joined Poland’s TVP World on Thursday morning to assess Europe’s role in trying to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
I assess the 90-minute phone call of Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finland’s President Alexander Stubb with Vladimir Putin. I emphasize that the discussion is unlikely to bring the Kremlin into meaningful talks; however, it is needed to establish Russia’s determination to force Ukraine’s surrender.
I discuss the need for expanded European support of Kyiv, and how its leaders can deal with Donald Trump’s alliance with the Kremlin.

ORIGINAL ENTRY: I joined Ukraine’s Daniel Tkiie on Monday to evaluate the state of Russia’s 56-month full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
I explain why the Kremlin is unlikely to enter meaningful talks to end the invasion, as it tries to force Ukraine’s surrender this winter with aerial attacks.
I examine Donald Trump’s shift towards Vladimir Putin, with the Kremlin offering lucrative business deals, and ask if the US Congress and agencies can restrict him after mid-term elections next Tuesday.
The interview was recorded before Putin’s call with Norwegian and Finnish leaders and the latest revelations about the Trump camp’s pursuit of deals with Moscow.
