EA on Pakistan TV: Crisis Surges as Advance of Yemen’s Houthis Joins Failing US War on Iran
In a 21-minute discussion with Voice of Islam, I set out and examine the expanding conflict within and beyond Yemen, including the confrontation of the Yemeni group Ansar Allah (the Houthis) and Saudi Arabia.
I establish the context of Yemen, one of the world’s poorest countries, and how the hope of Arab Spring in 2012 dissolved into fighting among factions for power. I add the involvement of Saudi Arabia and the UAE. I explain how the split between the two countries this year has contributed to the Houthi advance along the Red Sea coast towards Yemen’s third-largest city Taiz.
I focus on the humanitarian crisis for millions of Yemenis before talking about the escalation of aerial attacks between the Houthis and the Saudis.
