Lindsey Graham and Donald Trump (CNN/File)

I joined the BBC on Sunday to discuss the sudden death of US Sen. Lindsay Graham and its significance for the Trumpist effort to take over the Republican Party.

I analyze Graham’s move from protégé of Sen. John McCain and establishment Republican to a water carrier for Donald Trump — even though Trump had belittled, insulted, and humiliated him in the 2016 Republican contest for the Presidency.

I explain how Graham occasionally tried to draw lines with Trump but in the end promoted the reality TV star as the “future” of the Republican Party.

And, alongside the disappearance of former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, I consider the boost for the Trumpists who — having taken control of the GOP in the House — are seeking dominance in the Senate.
