EA-War and Politics 24 VideoCast: Putin’s Last Chance to Conquer Ukraine?

I joined Ukraine’s War and Politics 24 on Monday for a 36-minute analysis of the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine, following last weekend’s Ukraine-Russia-US talks in Abu Dhabi.

I admit the lack of clarity over the key issues, beginning with territory and continuing with security guarantees for Kyiv, as no details are given about the discussions. I read signals that we have about the Trump Administration’s position and from the Russian State media.

There may be a window opening up where Russia does not pursue its maximum demands, but I am saying that with a great deal of caution.

(The interview was recorded on Monday, before the revelation in the Financial Times that the Trump camp is linking security guarantees to Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Donetsk region in the east of the country.)

Host Daniel Tkiie and I also discuss the Trump camp’s “shock troops” in Minnesota, including Saturday’s execution of Alex Pretti.
