EA’s David Dunn joined Poland’s TVP World on Thursday to explore how Greenland and Denmark are resisting the Trump camp’s attempts to seize the island.
One can never prejudge Trump in terms of his willingness to challenge every norm, every treaty, every agreement, every expectation.
I hesitate to say “never” when it comes to [military action] because I never would have imagined that we would be at that point a year ago or four months ago.

I joined Pakistan TV on Thursday to examine further the Trumpist threats to Greenland, following the meeting between Greenlander, Danish, and Trump senior officials.
I again dismantle the disinformation of Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and their allies. Then I consider the tactics by Greenland, Denmark, and Europe to push back the Trumpist pressure.
The idea that you need the US to come in and face off a Russian or Chinese threat — there’s a simpler answer to this. The US is a member of NATO, Denmark is a member of NATO, other members of NATO are involved: you consult each others.
The Trump camp is doing this for different motives.

I highlight how the Europeans arranged a meeting between the Greenland and Denmark Foreign Ministers with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, seen as more likely to work with Europe — but how Vice President J.D. Vance, a foe of US-European cooperation, ensured he was in the session.
So as the Trump camp maintains its demands, and Greenland and Denmark play for time with a “working group”, can the Trumpists be rebuffed?
You’re trying to be logical about Donald Trump. But Trump and many of his supporters don’t work on logic. Instead, they shout, “Only the US can protect Greenland.”

ORIGINAL ENTRY, JAN 14: I joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Pat Kenny Show on Wednesday to analyze the Trump camp’s threat to seize Greenland from Denmark, damaging NATO and European security.
I review the rhetoric of Donald Trump and his advisors, assessing if they would dare invade the world’s largest island in an attack on a fellow NATO member.
I explain how Greenland and Denmark obtained a meeting on Wednesday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, hoping he might ease the tension. However, Vice President J.D. Vance — a foe of the US-Europe alliance and European security — has gate-crashed the session.
I also discuss Trump’s threat of military intervention in Iran, and look at the impending Supreme Court decision on tariffs.
If the US is transitioning from its position as a superpower with global power projection to a hemispheric power, does it stand to reason that Secretary Rubio would consider Greenland – a territory in North America – part of US regional and hemispheric influence/tutelage, therefore a territory falling under the Monroe/Donroe doctrinal sphere? Maybe there is an overlap in strategic thinking between Rubio and Vice President Vance in this regard. Rubio seems keen on dominating Latin America and imposing barriers to extra-regional state actors ,like China; he might view Greenland and its relationship with Denmark through that same lens. It seems like an isolationist circling-of-wagons strategy to either limit or eliminate influence of external state actors.
