EA on WION: Ukraine-Europe Plan to End Russia’s Invasion
EA-Times Radio VideoCast: Ukraine and Europe Push Back Putin’s “Nazi Piglets” Invasion
Anticipating Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s meeting with Donald Trump, I spoke with Ukraine’s War and Politics 24 on Christmas Eve about negotiations and the state of Kyiv’s resistance of the Russian invasion.
In the 32-minute chat with Daniel Tkiee and Sofia Nazarenko, I examine the key issues in the talks: territory, security guarantees for Ukraine, and reconstruction.
I highlight how Ukraine and Europe have taken the political high ground, pushing back the Kremlin ultimatum crafted with Donald Trump’s Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in late October. I consider a divided Trump Administration and a chaotic Donald Trump — can Kyiv and the Europeans maneuver the US into a firm commitment of support for Ukrainian defense?
And I evaluate for how long Vladimir Putin can maintain his attempt to conquer Ukraine.
If Putin ever gives this up, if he ever accepts the ceasefire, he has to go to the Russian people and say, “1.4 million casualties and we didn’t get all of Ukraine. We didn’t even get all of Donetsk.”
Will the Russian people say, “We’re happy. We don’t have to fight anymore”? Or do they say, “What, you’re stopping? You were supposed to give us Ukraine as part of Greater Russia”?
